HARDEEVILLE, SC (WTOC)- Police and
rescue crews responded to a single-vehicle wreck early Friday in Hardeeville. 

It happened shortly before 7 a.m. on Purrysburg Road off of U.S. 17 just past I-95. 

State troopers
say when they arrived on scene they found a van flipped over on its side. One
person was inside the van and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. 

JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) - A home was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning in Hardeeville.

The American Red Cross responded to help the resident by providing temporary living arrangements, financial assistance for food and clothing and a comfort kit that contained basic hygiene items.

The victim was also referred to Red Cross partner agencies for long-term help. 

JASPER CO., SC (WTOC)- Jasper County School District is looking to increase security for the upcoming school year.

In it's proposed budget, the school board has requested $35,000 to go towards hiring a fifth school resource officer and getting new equipment, including card-swipe technology.

The new resource officer will be stationed at the alternative school. The district is going to place one of the high school's three officers at the middle school, so both the high school and the middle school will have two officers each.
