Hampton Fire to host 5K to help two of their own | News
HAMPTON CO., SC (WTOC)- The City of Hampton Fire Department is hosting a 5K race for two of its own, and they need the public's support to finish strong.
Firefighters Catlin Schroyer and Jordan Eaddy are both battling serious medical issues. To support their medical bills, the fire department is hosting its first ever "Hampton Hometown Heroes" race.
The team has placed green bows and wreaths throughout the city to honor both young men. If they get close to 500 signed-up, one firefighter will run the race in full gear.
"The equivalent would be like coming out in the middle of August with your winter jacket and snow pants on. It's nothing those boys wouldn't do for me that I wouldn't do for them," said Firefighter Alex Murray.
The Hampton Hometown Heroes Race will be held August 24th. Registration is $20.
